I have to say, I love the concept of this holster but it fails to deliver in execution. I bought this for my Glock 20 10mm specifically so I could attach to my frame pack like a guide holster. I am not an open carry guy except when I am in bear country and when I am in bear country, I usually have a pack on. Most guide holsters are in the $120-160 price range and I just didn't want to lay out for that so I did some searching and came across this holster. As I said, I love the concept and the price was absolutely right. And let me also say that my 3 star rating has nothing to do with quality or craftsmanship. Both are outstanding. Holster is well made without question. However, when the holster is attached to the shoulder straps of my pack, it sags terribly. Making it uncomfortable and awkward to move around. The holster bounces when you walk and its just a hassle. I tried to move it down to the waist strap but you get the same bounce and sag. Finally, I moved it to my belt and had same issues as before. As cool as an idea as this holster is, it just doesn't perform. I ultimately ended up scrapping it for a simpler universal holster on the belt. Very cool concept and very well made holster unfortunately it just doesn't function as desgined.Very easy to install and transfer to other packs or webbing. The strap must be wide to be able to function properly. Very sturdy and well built. Only drawback it it sticks out from the strap about 1.5 inches and takes some getting used to.I absolutely love these holsters. I had previously bough the shape shifter set for my glock and liked it so much that I bought this for my Springfield. It's completely interchangeable with the rest of the shape shifter configurations that I already had so now I have loads of carry options for both my pistols. Being lefthanded, that's a huge plus for me!Great product for hiking. Fit my Walther Tac 4. Had to use a spade drill to allott for the 4.6 barrel tho... minimum discomfort while hiking. Attached to my stomach strap that is 4.5 tall. 3/4 in thick padding... works out well. No props to alien gear, never got back to me about my? About 4.6 inch barrel, but it worked out. Gotta keep the thumb release clean, dust slows actionBest holster for backpacking. It rides great on the straps of the pack and the is too feels/ Is really locked in place, super easy thumb depress to draw the weapon from the holster. Wonderful product and highly recommend for anyone who carries while backpacking.Loved the concept. I was planning on this for my sidearm setup on my hunting pack while in Alaska. I tried multiple setups on my Kifaru pack, but it was so uncomfortable even with an empty pack. The plastic clamp digs into your shoulder/chest - I couldn’t find a sweet spot. I don’t know how this could work on a long hunt, I couldn’t stand it just walking around the house trying it on. No knock on alien gear, their stuff is great… just this setup wouldn’t work for me.This product is probably better on bigger backpacks. So far I’ve tried to clip it to my osprey 25 (basically a camelbak) which has some pretty thin straps. In order to get this thing to stay I really had to tighten the mount for the straps and I had issues getting the holster piece to stay locked into the backpack strap attachment. Ended up dropping my firearm off my pack when I bent down to tie my shoelace.On an 8 mile hike I carried mostly on my OWB holster until I got to a section where I had to climb over downed trees for about 1 mile and I crammed the thing in and it stayed on.I’m hoping this works better on my larger packs I really like where my firearm sits and the holster piece fits it like a glove.Awesome on any pack shoulder strap I’ve put it on so far!
